Winter Inspired Process Art Deb Norris

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Windham Early Childhood Educators Co-op
Instructor: April Zajko

This interactive training will focus on designing process art invitations that will spark learning about winter. We will divide into small groups and develop “process art provocations” using low cost materials and resources we already have on hand. Working collaboratively, we will align the process art to objectives in Teaching Strategies Gold. Participants are encouraged to come to the session with 1 or 2 specific children in mind, perhaps ones who avoid fine motor tasks, are disinterested in art or writing, or who have developmental areas that you feel may be supported by engaging art invitations. With the lens of open-ended art and a thoughtfully planned learning environments we will explore the concept of supporting all learners in our classroom. NOTE: Each group will need to type their break out room ideas into a shared Google Doc (or send to April through email). These will be assembled into one “Winter Inspired Process Art” digital resource file to help with planning and gathering TSG observations. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will design process art invitations that will spark learning about winter. 2. Participants will develop art invitations and align process art to objectives in Teaching Strategies Gold.
