Love and Logic Book Study Deb Norris

Special Topics: Advanced Specialized Care ,
Sponsor: Windham Early Childhood Educators Co-op
Instructor: Sara Donahue

Since 1977, the Love and Logic Institute has been dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. We provide practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with children, and help prepare children for the real world. All of our work is based on a psychologically sound parenting and teaching philosophy called Love and Logic. Love allows children to grown through their mistakes. Logic allows them to live with the consequences of their choices. Learning Objectives: • Participants will gain an understanding of the core principles of the Love and Logic philosophy and identify the key applications to their specific early childhood setting • Participants will complete the book study with a written plan to include 3-5 new techniques that they plan to implement within their specific early childhood setting • Participants will examine ways in which to advocate for consistency between home and school around loving limit-setting with young children, and establish one goal around parent/guardian education for the upcoming school year

Additional Information

The format of this professional development opportunity will be that of a book study for early childhood educators. We will independently read and collectively discuss (via Zoom) the book “Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood,” which is a book that is geared to parents of young children ages 0-6. We will work together to make the material applicable to our range of early childhood settings, and work on the learning objectives below to ensure that the material is translated into practical application once the training is completed.
