Vermont’s Early Childhood Professional Development System is a partnership between many groups, organizations, and individuals to provide high-quality professional development experiences to members of the early childhood and afterschool workforce.
In 2011, Vermont adopted a set of guiding principles that serve as a framework for developing and evaluating Vermont’s professional development system for early childhood and afterschool professionals.
Vermont’s professional development system for early childhood and afterschool professionals is:
- Clear and Known
- Supportive of Professional Growth
- Research-based and Relevant
- Integrated and Aligned
- Accessible
- Financially Supported; and
- Evaluated on all of the above criteria.
These principles were developed collaboratively and approved by the Child Development Division and partners throughout the state including the Building Bright Futures Professional Preparation and Development Committee. We encourage Training Hosts and Sponsors to use the guiding principles to help plan and deliver professional development opportunities.
If you have questions about how these principles apply to our work or yours, please contact us for further assistance.
