Winter in the Outdoor Classrooms Deb Norris

As the seasons begin to change, we know we need to make adaptations to make our outdoor classrooms function in cooler temperatures. Participants will gain tips, tricks, and techniques for keeping the outdoor classroom going with colder temperatures and the unique challenges that winter brings. Participants will examine ways to gather, store and manage a class set of outdoor gear. We will explore ways to embed routine based curriculum and brainstorm a list of outdoor activities that address early learning standards in winter. ****Learning Objectives: • Identify obstacles for outdoor classrooms in winter and brainstorm tips, tricks, and techniques for making outdoor learning work in cold temperatures. • Examine ways to gather, store and manage a class set of outdoor gear • Explore ways to embed “routine based curriculum” and outdoor activities as a way to address early learning standards in winter****

Registration is required and the training is limited to 30 participants. This is a 2+2+2 model training - there are two zoom sessions on 12/10 and 17 that are two hours long and a 2 hour homework assignment to complete between the sessions.
