Exploring Loose Parts Through Provocations Deb Norris

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Transforming Early Childhood Education LLC
Instructor: Carrie Becker

What do the terms "loose parts" and open-ended materials mean, and what do they look like in an infant, toddler, and two's classroom? What can we, as teachers, learn from our observations of children as they explore these materials? In this workshop, we will look at what loose parts offer infants, toddlers, and two's in their learning and how teachers present them to provide authentic opportunities for children to discover. Let's explore ways to provoke thought, conversation, and play using open- ended materials within this interactive workshop.

Additional Information

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING TICKETS: The workshop is designed for participants to form a sense of community. This can only happen when attendees are open to sharing their experiences, reflections, and ideas. Many organizations provide professional development for early childhood educators. Suppose you are seeking professional development only to obtain a certificate for credit hours. In that case, this workshop may not be the right fit. Workshop attendees are asked to be active participants throughout the entire session. This involves having your camera on for at least part of the session, taking an active role in small group conversations, and being fully present during the entire session. Please note: Ticket purchases are non-refundable. There are NO refunds, credits or exchanges. Participants will need an understanding of how to navigate Zoom- using their camera, microphone, chat tool and joining breakout rooms. All virtual workshops are taught in a live format in the Eastern Time Zone (EDT). They will not be recorded. Each person participating (viewing) the workshop needs to purchase a ticket. The ticket fee gives the participant access to the information provided during the session by the workshop facilitator. While a participant can earn a workshop certificate the registration fee is not a payment for a certificate. Prior to the workshop session you will receive information on how to request and earn a professional development certificate.
