Early Multi-Tiered System of Support – Module 3 September 10, 2019
Module IIIa: This session will emphasize individual Intensive interventions determining the meaning of challenging behavior. Participants will understand the difference between PBS and traditional discipline approaches and define the form and function of communication and identify the behavioral mechanisms that contribute to viewing challenging behavior as communicative. Participants will learn how to describe methods to determine function of challenging behavior and use interview and observational data to develop behavior hypothesis. Part 1 and Part II. Module IIIb: This session will assist participants to identify the steps of the process for PBS, describe strategies that may be used to prevent challenging behaviors and identify replacement skills that may be taught to replace challenging behavior. Participants will be able to identify how to respond in a way that does not maintain or reinforce challenging behavior and develop a behavior support plan for a case study child.
