Obligations as a Mandatory Reporter & What to Expect if a Report is Made: When in Doubt Always Report! Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Early Childhood Professionals Network
Instructor: Kathy Hemmingway

Children need to trust the adults in their lives and to believe that they will support them. The state of Vermont requires certain professionals or institutions to report all reasonable suspicions of child maltreatment. This session will provide an opportunity to discuss grey-area situations, including those involving substance misuse. The session will also provide insight into the process of what happens after a report has been made to the Vermont Department of Children and Families (DCF). At the end of this session providers will know when and how to file a report, be able to confidently file the report, and know the general process of what happens after a report has been made. In addition, providers will learn the services that DCF case workers provide and how to best work with them.
