Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Gentle: Nature-based Play and Learning May 8, 2019
This two hour workshop will engage early childhood professionals in the best practices for authentic play in nature for children and the learning that it fosters. We'll touch on the adult role in this learning, risk and benefit, some approaches to getting all students ready to be outside learning together, documenting and extending the learning, and discovering how the language and experiences of outdoor play can help us build more compassionate children and peaceful communities. And we'll do this while spending time outside learning how to involve young children in "doing science" -observations, questions, sharing discoveries. Come prepared to be outside-there's so much to see, do and learn about ourselves and the world around us through nature-based play.
