Beyond Math: Embedding Math in Early Childhood Classrooms January 16, 2020
This workshop will provide early childhood educators with a deeper understanding of preschool mathematics in the early childhood classroom with a focus on embedding math learning into children’s play choices, as well as planning math learning activities based on observing children’s current skills. By the end of the workshop, early childcare providers will be able to: (1) Enhance children’s natural interest in mathematics and their ability to use it to make sense of their world. (2) Provide for children’s deep and sustained interaction with key mathematics ideas. (3) Integrate mathematics with other activities and other activities with mathematics. (4) Actively introduce mathematical concepts, methods, and language through a range of age-appropriate experiences and teaching strategies.
