Building Connections that Weather the Storm March 14, 2019
This two hour training explores proactive and responsive strategies for building relationships with elementary aged children. We will focus on universal design to allow all students to be successful. We will also discuss brain-based interventions for assisting children in coming back to program after an upset or unexpected behavior. Through scenarios taken from real life, we will practice using scripts and collaborative emotional processing to increase connection with struggling students and turn gray skies to sunny. For participants to understand the difference and value of proactive and responsive strategies and how they work together to increase connection with struggling students. For participants to learn at least two strategies for staying calm and reacting to challenging behavior to increase connection rather than breeding resentment and self-doubt.
