Culturally Responsive Program Structure and Staff Practices for Afterschool (2-part workshop) July 16, 2024
This workshop will expand upon the influences of cultural humility, institutionalized racism and marginalization, and how they impact student sense of belonging in your program. Using the eight practices of culturally responsive program structure and staffing practices, participants will develop a greater understanding of how to create programs that better connect with students who have non-dominant identities. In part 2 of this workshop series, participants will dive deeper into the 5 key components of culturally responsive afterschool activities: caring relationships, student voice, critical consciousness, parent involvement, and sense of belonging.
