Emphasizing Children’s Points of View and Encouraging Autonomy: All About “Regard for Child Perspectives” in the Pre-K and Toddler CLASS Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics:
Sponsor: STARS
Instructor: Ann Dillenbeck, January O'Donnell

How do we let children know that we take their ideas, interests, and leadership potential seriously? This training provides examples of early childhood educators, including those in Vermont, supporting toddlers and preschoolers as creators, thinkers, and leaders. They are flexible, give children responsibility, allow movement, ask meaningful questions, and make time for children to share their perspectives. They also set clear behavioral expectations and work toward specific learning goals. Come see the CLASS dimension, “Regard for Child Perspectives” in action! Previous knowledge of the Toddler and Pre-K CLASS will be helpful.
