Enriching Children’s Play with Loose Parts October 31, 2018
‘Loose Parts’ are materials with great play potential! They can be used, manipulated and combined in creative and unique ways by children during free, exploratory play. The theory of Loose Parts hypothesizes that children’s play is deeper, richer, and more complex when their environment has a multitude of loose parts to explore and use in imaginative ways. We will see how indoor and outdoor play environments can incorporate loose parts, and we’ll play with loose parts and discover how much fun they can be! Participants will: 1) describe the benefits of loose parts in expanding and enriching children's play; 2) design indoor and outdoor play environments that incorporate loose parts and will be able to choose appropriate loose parts for their environments.
