Epilepsy Training for Childcare Providers October 23, 2018
This is a great training for anyone looking for more information about epilepsy. 1. Participants will be knowledgeable about the latest facts about epilepsy, common causes and current treatments. 2. Participants will be able to recognize a variety of seizure types. 3. Participants will be knowledgeable about proper first aid for each of the seizure types and will be able to assist a child having a seizure in a center or home with proper first aid. 4. Participants will understand the impact of epilepsy on children and their families. 5. Participants will learn the importance of anti-convulsant medicines and the consequences of missed medications, including SUDEP, which is Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. 6. Participants will be able to recognize when a seizure is life threatening and how to respond. 7. Participants will be knowledgeable about the importance of using the Questionnaire for a Parent of a Student with Seizures, the Seizure Observation Record Form, and the Seizure Action Plan, and the need to implement them in their childcare setting. This training is great for all Teachers of young children, Program Directors, and Administrators.
