How to Talk with Families about Diversity Deb Norris

Special Topics: Advanced Specialized Care ,
Sponsor: Lamoille Valley Starting Points
Instructor: Michelle Richling

We will discuss the importance of communicating with families about diversity. We will learn to recognize our own implicit and explicit biases and how this may impact not only our interactions with families and children but the way in which we view or understand a child’s behavior. We will discuss a framework of communications with families about uncomfortable topics, including how to prepare, welcome diverse perspectives, and cultivate a positive and supportive partnership with all families.
