Kiddie Cats on the Move October 6, 2021
The Kiddie CATS program was a study done by UVM students. They took the CATS (children and teachers) On the move elementary school program and made it adaptable for preschoolers. The teachers and students worked together to make the program appropriate and inclusive. Kiddie CATs on the Move is a 30-minute structured physical activity curriculum developed specifically for 3- to 5-year-old children. The primary goal of Kiddie CATs on the Move is to engage children in 20 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity during each session. The program also gives children an opportunity to develop gross motor skills, practice safe and cooperative play with their peers, and learn about the importance of physical activity. Kiddie CATs on the Move was designed to be flexible and modifiable to allow access to the program regardless of factors that have the potential to be barriers to physical activity in preschool settings (e.g., small classroom spaces, children with a variety of disabilities or behavior problems). Please take a look at this video about our program or our website (www.uvm.edu/catsmove) for more information. MASK WILL BE REQUIRED!
