Spending time outside benefits academic, social-emotional, and physical learning. Join experienced outdoor educators Joan Carey and Emma Hallowell as they strengthen our understanding of why nature-based learning is crucial, especially during the pandemic. Participants will gain inspiration and strategies to put immediately into place. This training introduces research on the benefits of outdoor learning and nature play, and provides inspiration for moving forward with your own outdoor learning space. Attention is given to the basics of establishing a long-lasting outdoor teaching environment, including: o Choosing an outdoor learning space o Creating schedules, along with basic safety rules and routines o Toileting, handwashing and eating outside
