Preventing Staff Burnout December 4, 2020
Based on the book with the same title by Ellen Drolette (available through Redleaf Press). Participants will explore strategies for avoiding burn-out and low-morale and use inspiring stories from the field to examine the structures and practices that support the development of healthy attitudes. We will explore some of the internal and some of the external barriers that distract us from showing up fully to support children and families. Participants will look within themselves to explore what stressors are currently feeding into their feelings of burnout. Participants will (1) be able to analyze their current practices in regards to feedback loops and self-reflection through small and large group activities, (2) explore how burnout has an impact on mental health, physical health, and environments, (3) be able to explain why mental health and optimism play a vital role in the lives of early childhood educators, and (4) be able to define appreciative living and the value it has in an early educator's life.
