Putting the ECERS-3 to Use: Enhancing Quality in Preschool Classrooms July 25, 2019
The Third Edition of the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS-3), like the Revised Edition before it, is an observational tool used to assess global classroom quality. The ECERS-3 considers the connection in early childhood classrooms between the physical environment, children’s relationships with one another and with significant adults, and instruction. What makes the ECERS-3 both more reliable and predictive of child development outcomes? How have the authors chosen to measure developmentally appropriate practice, efforts to ensure children’s health and safety, and the physical environment in preschool classrooms? This 3-hour training highlights Third Edition changes to the ECERS and introduces attendees to the tool through small group activities and examples from high-scoring classrooms.
