Resource Parenting Curriculum + TIPS for Afterschool and Foster Parents April 29, 2019
This 10-week training series is a trauma-intensive workshop that educates caregivers about the impact of trauma on the development, attachment, emotions, and behaviors of the children in their care. The series also guides caregivers and afterschool professionals to improve their relationships with children and their ability to manage challenging emotions and behaviors. The curriculum is made up of two conjoined curricula. RPC assists caregiver in understanding how early childhood traumatic events may impact children and to recognize behaviors as symptoms of those experiences. TIPS for Tuning in is the Trauma Informed Parenting Skills curriculum which provides hands-on parenting skills for caregivers of children who have experienced complex developmental trauma. The class series allows participants in-class time to practice skills for behavior support and to move beyond the psycho-educational concepts of the topic and into practical application in afterschool programming and parenting.
