Rock Solid Foundations Training/Mentoring: Intentionally Teaching Children Social & Emotional Skills (Part 1) (ASC) October 3, 2018
This 12 hour advanced specialized care training starts with a 6 hour training in a classroom setting (Part 1) and 6 hours of follow up mentoring/coaching on-site (Part 2). Rock Solid will be offered in locations throughout the state to help providers support the social and emotional skills of children in your care. How can you build good relationships with every child in your care? What does a supportive environment look like to support social and emotional development in children? What are the teaching strategies to incorporate daily to build children¿s social and emotional competence? Participants will: a. Identify and use strategies to build positive relationships with children and families. b. Identify key ways in which the physical environment can promote social emotional development. c. Identify strategies for helping to build social skills in children. This training utilizes The Pyramid Model, research based strategies and resources from the Center on Social and Emotional Foundations of Early Learning (CSEFEL), focusing on the social emotional development and school readiness of young children.

Family child care home providers with or without specialized child care agreements receive 6 hours of training in the classroom and 6 hours of follow up mentoring/coaching on site. As space allows center-based providers, preschools, afterschool programs and other early childhood professions may attend.
