Special Topics: Advanced Specialized Care ,
Sponsor: Lamoille Valley Starting Points
Instructor: Dianne Carlino-Desroches M. Ed.

This workshop is designed to give caregivers the inside scoop of how to support children dealing with an imbalance in their sensory world. Their challenging behaviors are what we see when they really need more balance to their sensory systems. Learn strategies to support these children and their families. As a result of this workshop participants will learn: 1. What is the child’s sensory system comprised of? 2. What is a Sensory Processing Disorder? 3. What are challenging behaviors telling us? 4. Is there a sensory need, what can I do? 5. Teaching the child how to self-regulate. 6. What are some activities to support the sensory system or (sensory diet)? 7. How to know when it is time to refer a child to an agency for the next level of support. 8. Resources for your childcare, child and family.
