Social Emotional Learning in Afterschool Community of Practice (ASC) June 13, 2019
This series of facilitated learning circles meets monthly throughout the school year. In each session, the instructor engages participants in reflection on their practice of bolstering social and emotional learning in the afterschool environment. Through a mixture of lecture, large and small group discussion, and case study examples participants explore best practice methods for supporting students, staff, and families in the community through the afterschool program. Content covered includes adverse childhood experiences, post-traumatic growth, resiliency, reflective supervision practices, family engagement, and effective social and emotional learning environments.
