Spring 2019 CACFP Provider Annual Training Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development
Instructor: Kristy Rose

1) Meeting local community members and organizations to learn about resources related to food and nutrition will build capacity in improving provider's food program and support their community's economy. 2) Discussing vegetables in many ways including their health benefits, plant parts, and introducing them to choosy eaters supports the CACFP best practice of serving a vegetable (or fruit) at each meal. Providers will be given the opportunity to learn from each other in how they approach "choosy eaters" and tools/knowledge to build upon, including classroom activities, book suggestions, language to use, recipes to try and nutrition facts that will relate the food we eat with the health of our bodies. 3) Rules and regulations that are required for program participation in the CACFP will be reviewed, including meal patterns, serving sizes, menu requirements, meal counts etc. Learning Objectives: *Providers will have options for purchasing local foods to improve their food program. *Providers will have the tools and language needed to develop a curiosity for vegetables in the children they serve, including "choosy eaters". *Providers will have the knowledge needed to "pass" their 3 yearly reviews with flying colors.
