Strengthening Family and Community Partnerships and Engagement January 27, 2021
Strengthening partnerships and engagement with families and communities begins with valuing and honoring their strengths and roles as co-partners in supporting children’s social and emotional health and well-being. As part of the Vermont Guiding Principles Professional Development Series, this 2-hour session will offer information about approaches to honor, and leverage families’ strengths and funds of knowledge as assets through which to bridge the gap between home and school; examine historical and institutional racialized trauma on the lived experiences of families from marginalized communities and its impact on the home-school relationship; explore ways to elevate families’ voices as leaders, co-educators, and advocates to support their children’s development and learning. You are encouraged to attend the full training series, but welcome to sign up for any individual session you choose. Follow the registration link to learn more and to register for any or all of the sessions.
