Supporting STEM Learning in the Early Education Classroom Workshop Series : Class #1: The What and Why of STEM Learning and What Makes a Great STEM Lesson February 20, 2020
This workshop series will introduce and engage early childhood professionals in the areas of STEM learning in the classroom. We will gain insight into what and how STEM looks in the classroom and how we, as early educators can foster that learning early on and throughout children's every day life. Early educators will explore ways to support strong STEM programs and ways to create STEM kits.

Learning Objectives: • Participants will develop a set of STEM activities that meets their individual classroom goals • Participants will increase awareness of how STEM learning supports the Vermont Early Learning Standards and all areas of childhood development. • Participants will increase their ability to design high-quality STEM experiences for early learners • Participants will improve facilitation techniques for supporting engineering practices among children This series is designed as a 2-2-2 model: • 2 hour training with instructor • 2 hour assignment (to be completed at home and in your program) • 2 hour follow up with ACECN (Addison County Early Childhood Network) Curriculum Leader --- We will create a safe, kind, comfortable learning community where we share our ideas and experiments with one another; let’s bounce ideas around and learn from each other! Session 1: 2/24/20 will be held at the Ilsley Library in Middlebury, VT Session 2: 3/30/20 will be held at CSAC - 109 Catamount Park, Middlebury, VT This training is Co-Sponsored by the Addison County Early Childhood Network.
