The ABCs of a Forest Classroom May 15, 2019
As Vermont's vibrant outdoor kindergarten movement is taking hold in both preschool and elementary classrooms, teachers are looking to educate themselves on the difference between "just playing outside in the woods" and connecting intentional teaching of natural history topics to the exploration and inquiry that happens naturally among young children. Brattleboro Environmental Education Center (BEEC) has been supporting the development and enrichment of the Pre-K and K Forest Classroom at Guilford Central School through weekly programs throughout the 2018-19 school year. Through a hands on sharing of our successes and stories we will examine in detail both the pedagogy of a nature-based program and the nuts and bolts of creating one.
This training will take place at the Guilford Central Elementary School in the Forest Classroom. 374 School Rd. Guilford, VT. For continued professional development support from BEEC beyond this class, the fee is $100 per hour of programming.
