The ITERS-3 and Playtime with Infants and Toddlers: Activities that Promote Active Learning Deb Norris

Sponsor: STARS
Instructor: January O'Donnell

When caregivers interact with infants and toddlers through engaging activities, everyone has fun! From simple routines to planned happenings, the entire day is playtime, and this affords infants and toddlers with the most effective ways to promote their positive learning and development. This workshop explores ideas that enhance the use of books, toys, interactive displays, and classic chants and rhymes, so that your days with little ones are filled with laughter and learning adventures. You will learn how to make books come alive, use your walls as learning tools, make some simple, safe toys, and blend music and mirth into your day. A large number of handouts will be provided, so you can add plenty of highly motivating learning resources to your collection. This is a two-session, live online, interactive workshop, plus time in-between the sessions to create your own project. The first live session will be an overview of the ITERS-3 with a focus on providing activities and learning opportunities throughout the day. Between the two live sessions, with guidance, you will spend time on your own planning and creating an interactive display or activity in your room, and then send a photo to the instructor. For the second live session, participants will present their projects during a non-judgmental, lighthearted sharing time.
