Special Topics:
Sponsor: Windham Early Childhood Educators Co-op
Instructor: Janice Stockman, Melissa Adams and Shelly Torunski

Young Children respond well to visual supports for learning their schedule, classroom rules, communication skills and expected behavior in the classroom. In this workshop we will debunk several myths about using visuals with young children, share examples of visuals that work to build classroom community, teach rules and expectations, and help children understand how to successfully participate in classroom routines. We will also learn about the difference between classroom and individual visual schedules, and when to use each. Participants will learn about easy web-based visuals you can make whenever you need them. Participants will: 1) describe five benefits of using visual supports with young children; 2) identify three uses for visuals in their classrooms; 3) explore a web-based program for creating visuals for their classrooms.
