Special Topics: Advanced Specialized Care ,
Sponsor: Windham Early Childhood Educators Co-op
Instructor: Cathy Siggins

Through a combination of large and small group discussion, participants will explore the concept of resilience in the context of early childhood development: What do we mean by resilience? Does it look the same in young children as in adults? What developing skills are needed to foster resiliency for young children? How can our learning environments and teaching strategies best support resiliency? Participants will consider these questions in the context of their own early childhood settings and teaching practices, and identify opportunities to intentionally promote resilience. Training Objectives: • Learners will develop their understanding of what resilience is and how it develops • Learners will be able to identify the foundational developmental skills related to resiliency • Learners will recognize the central role of relationships and environment and identify specific strategies that can build resiliency in the context of relationship and learning environment
