Step by Step Through the ECERS-3 | Item 16: Becoming Familiar with Print March 2, 2021
Are you new to the ECERS-3? Have you been using it for a while, but still have questions about certain items in the scale? In this weekly training, we will break down the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, Third Edition, and discuss one item per week. Our presenter will spend 30 minutes explaining the item of the week leaving the last 15 minutes for questions. Participants can sign up for all sessions, or register for individual sessions based on information needed. This session will cover Item 16: Becoming Familiar with Print. Preschool classrooms should contain many examples of the printed word. Print should be combined with pictures, and should be used in such a way that children begin to understand that print carries meaning and is an important tool to communicate. This session will explore ways in which staff can use print in the preschool classroom to lay a foundation for future learning.
