Step by Step Through the ECERS-3 | Items 13 and 14: Encouraging Children to Use Language and Staff Use of Books with Children March 29, 2021
Are you new to the ECERS-3? Have you been using it for a while, but still have questions about certain items in the scale? In this weekly training, we will break down the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, Third Edition. This session will cover Item 13: Encouraging Children to Use Language and Item 14: Staff Use of Books with Children. Engaging in various forms of communication throughout the day can help children learn important skills. Books can be an important tool in building vocabulary and introducing new thoughts and concepts to young children. In this session we’ll explore some ways that teachers can encourage children to use language to express themselves and their ideas. We will also look at ways that staff can engage children in book usage to build vocabulary and to introduce new ideas.
