Teaching Social-Emotional Skills Deb Norris

This module equips educators to intentionally teach foundational social-emotional skills. Topics include:

  • 1) Embedding culturally responsive practices and actively engaging families in skill development.
  • 2) Understanding the stages of learning new skills and how to scaffold instruction.
  • 3) Teaching children to build and sustain friendships.
  • 4) Supporting emotional literacy and self-regulation through modeling and guided practice.
  • 5) Guiding children in problem-solving strategies they can apply in real situations.
  • Outcome: Educators will gain the tools to explicitly teach social-emotional skills that strengthen classroom community and set children up for long-term success.
