Never Too Early Conference Hailey Paschold

Sponsor: Vermont Humanities
Instructor: Leanne Porter

Roots of Learning—Fostering Nature, Art, and Literacy: This conference explores innovative approaches to early childhood education grounded in Vermont Humanities' Never Too Early framework, with a focus on learning through children’s literature. Participants will begin with hands-on, developmental art experiences, including multimedia collaging and three-dimensional artwork, followed by discussions on creating developmentally appropriate curriculum around environmental themes.

We will then explore the intersection of nature, curriculum, and literature, emphasizing the creation of exceptional outdoor learning spaces and the integration of natural elements indoors. Educators will participate in hands-on activities featuring natural loose parts, gardening techniques, natural plant dyes, and sun science experiments—all designed specifically for early childhood settings.

The conference will conclude with practical strategies and resources for designing engaging early childhood environments, including curating displays, organizing art exhibits, and facilitating community art shows that celebrate children’s creative work.

If you’ve taken a Never Too Early class—or this is your first time—you’ll love this practical, engaging, hands-on experience designed just for early childhood educators.
