Sign Language for Early Childhood Educators April 24, 2026
Sign language is not just for infants! Young children of all ages and abilities—and their teachers and caregivers—benefit from learning signs as a meaningful communication tool. In this two-hour webinar, we will explore the developmental benefits of teaching sign language to hearing children, including how signs can support early language development, strengthen connection, and reduce frustration by giving children more ways to express needs and emotions.
Participants will also examine key differences between American Sign Language and spoken English, along with essential aspects of Deaf Culture as it relates to teaching signs to hearing people. Finally, participants will learn and rehearse several practical classroom and curriculum signs that can be used immediately in early learning settings. Participants will leave with a simple, realistic plan for introducing signs into daily routines without adding extra stress to the classroom day.
