Supporting Young Children’s Social-Emotional Development and Inclusive Classrooms Hailey Paschold

The Pyramid Model is a nationally recognized, evidence-based framework that promotes young children’s healthy social-emotional growth and helps teachers prevent and respond effectively to challenging behavior. This professional development series focuses on Modules 2–5 of the Preschool Pyramid Model. Participants may register for the full series at a reduced rate or sign up for individual modules based on their interests and needs.

The full series runs every Thursday, from September 17 through November 19th from 6-8 pm. It is run online using Google Meet. Individual modules have the dates listed below.

Gain 20 Northern Lights-approved professional development hours while gaining practical, evidence-based strategies you can implement immediately in your classroom.

Class 1: High-Quality, Supportive Environments
Date: Sept 17th, Sept 24th, and Oct 1st; 6-8pm Time: 6 hours

This module provides a deep dive into creating inclusive and engaging classroom environments that promote positive behavior and learning.

Outcome: Educators will leave with concrete strategies to structure their classrooms in ways that proactively support every child, including those with the most significant needs.

Class 2: Teaching Social-Emotional Skills
Date: Oct 8th, 15th, and 22nd; 6-8pm Time: 6 hours

This module equips educators to intentionally teach foundational social-emotional skills.

Outcome: Educators will gain the tools to explicitly teach social-emotional skills that strengthen classroom community and set children up for long-term success.

Class 3: Individualized Teaching of Social-Emotional Skills
Date: Oct 29th, 6-8pm Time: 2 hours

This focused session emphasizes tailoring instruction for children who require additional support.

Outcome: Educators will leave prepared to adapt core strategies so that every child, regardless of ability, can participate meaningfully in social-emotional learning.

Class 4: Addressing Challenging Behavior
Date: Nov 5th, 12th, and 19th; 6-8pm Time: 6 hours

This advanced module prepares teachers to prevent and respond effectively to challenging behavior, including intensive and persistent concerns.

Outcome: Educators will build confidence and competence in addressing challenging behavior, ensuring safe, supportive, and inclusive classrooms.
