Observation, Documentation and Assessment in Early Childhood Settings Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Vermont Child Care Providers Association
Instructor: Alisha Adams

This 9 month, interactive training presents basic techniques of observation, documentation and assessment used as fundamental tools to carefully monitor children’s development. This includes pedagogical documentation, as well as recording and interpreting the different skills and behaviors of young children and using this information to then integrate children’s individual profiles. The information collected will be used for educational guidance following developmentally appropriate practices to help identify and support children’s interests, developmental ability and progress in early childhood settings. This training has been designed for early childhood providers to build on quality care by using Teaching Strategies Gold over the course of the 2019-20 school year to accumulate a record of a child’s growth and development in order to plan appropriate curriculum and effective group and individualized instruction and share with parents so they can follow their child’s progress and extend the learning into their homes.
