The following criteria apply to individuals and groups in Vermont who wish to deliver STRONG trainings to participants working in regulated child care and afterschool programs. These criteria were approved by the Vermont Agency of Human Services Department for Children and Families Child Development Division in May 2021.
“STRONG” refers to “STRONG: Teaching the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework to Parents and Professionals,” a curriculum created and published by Maureen Durning and Jane Zink.
Criteria for Approved STRONG Instructors:
- Must hold knowledge of and/or experience with the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework.
- Must successfully complete a STRONG train-the-trainer.
- Must be an active member of the Northern Lights Instructor Registry.
STRONG Instructors will be reviewed by Northern Lights at CCV and, if all the above criteria are met, their Northern Lights Instructor Registry listing will be updated to indicate they are an approved STRONG instructor.
Criteria for Implementation of STRONG Trainings:
- Must be offered by or in partnership with an approved sponsor with a signed agreement on file with Northern Lights at CCV.
- Must meet all criteria to count as approved training hours and Advanced Specialized Care.
- Must meet learning objectives identified in the STRONG curriculum.
- Must follow naming conventions determined by the Child Development Division in partnership with Northern Lights at CCV.
