The arts are a powerful tool that can be used in the early education classroom with diverse learners to build academic and social emotional skills. In this workshop we will explore art as a teaching practice to promote Identity and self-awareness with all learners. We will discuss ideas to use in the classroom and connect them to the VELS learning standards. We will take time to explore different ways art can be used in an interdisciplinary way. Together we will examine and explore how art allows diverse learning styles and diverse social emotional needs to be honored, engaged and empowered in the ECE classroom.
