Have you ever heard someone say "What part of no don't you understand?" or "Because I said so, that's why!" Or maybe you have thought there has to be a better way to get children to listen and respond to our directions. This session explores the choices we have to parent, teach and discipline children. When you leave this session, you will have a deeper understanding of the strategies that balance structure and support in a child's life. At the completion of this session participants will be able to: 1) apply the strategy of effective commands to increase the level of children's responsiveness to adult authority; 2) adjust current practices away from authoritarian or permissive parenting styles, toward the balance of the authoritative style.
