Building the Window of Tolerance in Young Children Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics:
Sponsor: Bennington Early Childhood Center
Instructor: Joy Kitchell

Participants will be introduced to the theory of the window of tolerance, a theory that explains what happens in the brain as it deals with trauma, and then investigate how the brain adjusts, reacts, and accommodates to stressful situations based on the way the brain has developed. They will also look at strategies for how caregivers can provide support to children so they have the tools to remain in a state of homeostasis and how positive early childhood experiences can help children increase their resiliency and increase the size of their window of tolerance.
