CLASS Infant and Toddler: Learning and Language Development November 24, 2020
During a busy day with infants and toddlers, it’s easy for routine care duties to seem overwhelming and a focus on educational needs can be difficult to maintain. Research, however, confirms that nurturing relationships and responsive interactions are the quality markers of effective learning environments for our youngest children. These interactions can occur during a variety of activities, including routine care, across settings, home or center-based. Using the lens of the CLassroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), this training will focus on how teachers promote children’s exploration, learning, and language development in the context of relationships. Participants will examine specific CLASS indicators, explore simple ways to incorporate learning activities throughout the day, and discuss practices that foster positive growth and development for children birth to three.
