CLASS Infant and Toddler: Learning and Language Development July 13, 2020
Caring for Infants and Toddlers goes beyond just meeting their physical needs. Current developmental theory, based on widespread research, confirms that nurturing relationships and responsive interactions are essential quality markers in effective learning environments for our youngest children. During a busy day with infants and toddlers, it’s easy for those routine care duties to seem overwhelming, and it may become difficult for teachers to focus on educational needs. Using the lens of the CLassroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS Infant and CLASS Toddler), this training will focus on the sections of each tool that support teachers’ promotion of children’s exploration and learning, and language development. Participants will examine specific CLASS indicators, explore simple ways to incorporate learning activities throughout the day, and discuss practices that foster positive growth and development for our youngest children.
