9 AM to 10 AM Key Note: Introduction to Recognized Communities of Practice Presented by: Becky Millard Description: Join Becky Millard, Director of Northern Lights at CCV to learn how to implement recognized communities of practice that can count toward training hours for child care licensing. This session will include an overview of the community of practice model, criteria for recognized communities of practice, timeline for implementation, and a chance for you to ask your questions and identify next steps for your program or network. 10 AM to 12 PM: From Play to Purpose: Integrating DAP into Curriculum and Learning Presented by: Cathy Siggins Description: This training is designed to equip educators with a comprehensive understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and how to effectively incorporate these principles into curriculum planning and child-led learning experiences. Attendees will gain practical skills for creating learning environments that align with children’s developmental stages, interests, and individual needs, ultimately fostering a more engaging and supportive educational experience. Each participant will receive the updated Developmentally Appropriate Practice book. OR Sensory Processing: Understanding Sensory Needs Presented by: Carrie Becker Description: During this workshop, participants will learn about the eight Sensory Systems and how to integrate sensory learning into daily classroom life. Each participant will receive 2 lbs of Kinetic sand 1 PM to 3 PM: Introduction to CLASS: Toddler Presented by: Abby Fish Description: Caring for toddlers goes beyond only meeting their physical needs. Current developmental theory, based on mountainous piles of research, confirms that nurturing relationships and responsive interactions are the quality markers of effective learning environments for our youngest children. During this training, we will explore the Toddler Classroom Assessment Scoring System, or CLASS, tool to better understand how we can make more meaningful connections with the toddlers within our care. Participants will examine specific CLASS domains, dimensions and indicators, explore simple ways to incorporate learning interactions throughout the day, and discuss practices that foster positive growth and development for these young children. Each participant will receive CLASS Dimensions overview for infant, toddlers, & pre-school. OR Teacher Self-Care: Taking Care of your Nervous System Presented by: Carrie Becker Description: It is important to remember that self-care is a daily practice and not a one-time event. During this workshop session participants will learn how to support their nervous systems through self-regulation. Each participant will receive a Little Tykes mini turtle sandbox sensory kit.
