Gender and Sexuality: Youth Educator Professional Development December 14, 2022
Brief Training Description: This workshop will highlight the importance of co-creating welcoming environments that promote and support healthy identity development. The facilitation process will include traditional educational components, self-reflection, and peer-engagement to aid attendees in gaining a better understanding of personal identity and how that relates to efforts for inclusion. GOALS: 1. Participants will identify and reflect on personal experiences and biases. 2. Participants will be able to provide more affirming care regarding intersectional identities. 3. Participants will increase positive engagement with youth and parents by utilizing tools to explore language and engage with basic concepts. 4. Participants will strengthen ability to understand end explain the difference between gender and sexuality. AUDIENCE and WORKSHOP LENGTH: Youth educators seeking professional development. This workshop is designed for 1.5 hours and includes time for related dialogue/open discussion.
