How to Talk with Young Children about Race, Racism and Anti-racism October 2, 2020
This workshop explores the why and the how of racial justice education with young children. Part One explores the ways children develop a racial identity, how they learn and absorb racially violent messages, and why it is so important and effective to practice anti-racist education with children ages 0-5. Part Two of the workshop focuses on skill building and practice creating and using language that is meaningful and clear to help children both make sense of racial messages they get, and to help interrupt when children engage in racist thinking or different aspects of white supremacy culture.
