Never Too Early: Foundations of Literacy-Based Curriculum Through Children’s Literature Hailey Paschold

Sponsor: Vermont Humanities
Instructor: Leanne Porter

Discover how children’s books can serve as the foundation for meaningful curriculum development in early childhood settings. Through literature-based exploration, participants will learn how to design engaging experiences that support language development, imagination, early writing skills, and critical thinking. Grounded in research and inspired by approaches such as Reggio Emilia, this course will focus on translating books into rich investigations, open-ended learning opportunities, and responsive curriculum that grows from children’s interests and questions.

Designed for both new and returning educators, this training will provide practical strategies for planning literacy-rich curriculum, facilitating meaningful discussion, documenting learning, and creating experiences that connect books to art, play, storytelling, and discovery. Participants will leave with fresh ideas, ready-to-use tools, and a framework for developing curriculum that inspires curiosity and learning.

You will receive six credit hours from Northern Lights upon completion of the training.
