Never Too Early: Level I, Storytelling and Imagination Through Children’s Literature Brendan Rooney

Sponsor: Vermont Humanities
Instructor: Leanne Porter

This Never Too Early Level I training is for any professional who works with young children. (This is the same class that was offered in December 2024.) Topics include developing children’s imagination through building both written and oral storytelling techniques and traditions with groups of children, using wordless picture books with children, asking open-ended questions, and developing literacy and language skills through the use of children’s literature, among other topics. Participants will meet in three one-hour Zoom sessions to discuss storytelling strategies with three hours of student work required between each session in a Google Classroom. Participants will receive a set of picture books and resources generated through the classroom.
