Never Too Early: Social and Emotional Learning Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

Special Topics: Advanced Specialized Care ,
Sponsor: Vermont Humanities Council
Instructor: Amelia Struthers

This is a two-part workshop that teaches early childhood professionals working with children birth to age 6 to identify social and emotional themes in children’s books; plan and practice using the books to promote social and emotional learning with children in their program; identify strategies to support early literacy; and design effective strategies to promote social and emotional learning in their program. There are two, two-hour sessions, one week apart, and two hours of homework between the sessions to apply and practice their learning in a professional environment. Participants must attend both sessions and complete the homework to gain the six training hours. Eight new children’s books, relevant to the topic of social and emotional learning, are provided, for free, to each participant who completes the training. This training satisfies the requirement for Advanced Specialized Care.
