Pronoun Use and Making Spaces LGBTQIA+ Inclusive January 18, 2021
We discuss the importance of recognizing and respecting one’s identity and pronouns and why heteronormative biases restrict our ability to do so. Using inclusive and non-gendered language in classrooms, work, and on playing fields is paramount to learning, self-esteem, sense of self, and safety. We will talk about gender expression vs. gender identity as well as explain what it means to be gender nonconforming, transgender, and nonbinary. Participants will learn the significance of declaring your pronouns and walk away understanding gender neutral pronouns and why gender is beyond the binary.
